Electronic systems for energy applications (Oil& Gas, nuclear and renewable energy)

Electronic systems for oil & gas, nuclear and renewable energy

TRONICO has more than 40 years experience in the design and manufacturing of long lasting products in harsh environment (high temperature, vibration) for the field of energies:

  • Oil & Gas
  • Nuclear (production, scientific equipment...)
  • Renewable energies (solar, hydrogen, geothermic…)

Electronic Design

Product development, from SIL 1 to SIL 4, can be achieved using FIDES guide and in respect of CEI 61508 norm. A specific quality department is dedicated to ensure the respect of internal process and accreditations.

Experienced teams develop and analyse products to reach and maintain requirements regarding Safety & Reliability (RMAS: reliability, maintainability, availability, safety). TRONICO’s engineers acquired specific knowledge on energy projects in the following technical fields:

  • power electronics
  • storage and conversion
  • electromagnetism
  • optoelectronics
  • communication & network
  • radio-frequency
  • mechanical
  • numerical electronics/ FPGA/ µC
  • embedded electronics

As well as specific know-how applied to constraints and specific applications:

  • harsh environment
  • safety & reliability
  • highly reliable electronic design
  • high temperature
  • respect of standards and norms...

In addition to its know-how in terms of electronics and mechanical development, TRONICO has internal means for rooting and automatic test benches realization.

Electronic prototyping

TRONICO is organized with a specific « prototype » team, which enables it to provide quick manufacturing capability. It provides an expertise regarding purchasing and manufacturing to guarantee reliable and sustainable solutions.

The « prototype » team leans on experienced workers dedicated to this task and led by a prototype coordinator which regroups and handles the customer’s needs and matches them according to industrial constraints.

This “prototype” team disposes of identical and independent production means.

Electronic industrialisation

The industrialisation process involves searching and analysing reliable and sustainable solutions to optimise circuit board manufacturing. Industrialisation service facilitates and handles the progress from prototypes to production runs. Industrialisation is integrated from the start of a project to optimize short, medium and long-term production costs.

Industrialisation optimises production and consists of the following elements:

  • Purchasing/supply FMECA*: used by TRONICO to handle the risks and obsolescence
  • Process FMECA*: used by TRONICO to handle processing risks
  • DfX:
    • DfM (Design for Manufacturing): analysis of  the manufacturability of the boards and their integration
    • DfT (Design for Test): defining and optimizing the test strategy
  • Design to cost: design methodology to optimise product cost

(*Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis).

Assembly and testing

TRONICO has more than 40 years’ experience in electronic products and PCB assembly..

To do so, TRONICO leans on specific manufacturing means dedicated to electronic systems realization (SMD lines, wave soldering, X-ray, AOI…).

In addition to its manufacturing capability, TRONICO offers a full range of testing solutions (flying probes, ICT, thermal shocking, vibrations, functional testing…). Testing scope is elaborated to provide a permanent loop of improvement.

Thanks to its Nadcap accredited facility in Morocco, TRONICO is able to provide these solutions at a competitive price.

Best-cost manufacturing

Both manufacturing locations, St Philbert de Bouaine (France) and Tangier (Morocco) use the same process and equipment, both also have the same quality accreditation. The Tangier site is the first to be Nadcap certified on the African continent.

Depending on the customer’s needs and requirements, TRONICO is able to offer manufacturing in France and/or in Morocco.

Activity continuity is ensured thanks to the total compatibility of both locations.

Maintainability in Operational Conditions

Equipment service life is longer and longer (some can last over a decade), however electronic components manufacturing cycle tends to be shorter and shorter. Against obsolescence issues (components, process, manufacturing files…), TRONICO offers global solutions of MOC (Maintaining in Operational Conditions):

Power converter

TRONICO develops, realizes and commercializes a product line of highly performant power conversion solutions. This product line is regrouped under the brand: TAME-POWER®. These solutions apply to embedded and stationary systems from a few Watts up to 500kW by combining converters.

The reference designs of each converter can be set up depending of the desired optimization criteria: range of current and voltage, power, efficiency, industrial price, the form factor, etc.

Engineers remain available to analyse each enquiry.

Battery Management System

TRONICO masters the design and manufacturing of BMS in compliance with safety and security standards NF-EN61508 and SIL2.

TRONICO holds a BMS configurable platform for complex systems application:

  • Up to 36 groups of 12 cells
  • Depending on the technology used  (Li-ion, Li-Po, Li-Fe-Ph)
  • Depending on the application and needs (voltage, topology, etc.…)

TRONICO’s BMS have a communication bus CAN2.0 as well as an embedded web server.

Batteries emulator

TRONICO designs and produces testing solutions to ruggedize its customer’s BMS. These test benches are fully customizable and allow its user to emulate up to 136 different cells and therefore to validate and to perfect the BMS algorithms.

The emulator has two functions, required for batteries:

  • Voltage generation (up to 15V)
  • Very precise voltage measure

These products have been developed to test the application of the batteries without having to manipulate them. They can also be used for other applications, such as:

  • Fuel Cell monitoring/simulator
  • Low voltage data acquisition centre
  • Low voltage generation with high precision.

Collaborative projects

TRONICO has acquired throughout the years a specific experience in the elaboration of collaborative projects (FUI, H2020, governmental grants…), which has unabled it to become a preferred partner and/or a leader of collaborative projects. Its commitment in different competitiveness clusters and its collaboration with important partners (Universities, CNRS…) foster synergies in order to create new products, services or process.

TRONICO takes part in a number of innovative collaborative projects in the field of energy conversion, as a leader or as a partner:

HyTrac project

The HyTrac project (competitiveness cluster) gathers together the best French specialists in hydrogen technologies to propose a complete electro-hydrogen solution. This solution is mastered from the green energy contract, the local production of hydrogen using electrolysis up to the different parts embedded on the vehicle. This project targets stationary vehicle fleet from 100 to 300 kW.

TRONICO handles the energy conversion. The Hydrogen Mobility applications are a privileged development strategy for TRONICO which has established itself as the « Electronic French expert of hydrogen”.

ELITE project

The ELITE consortium brings together a truck manufacturer, a power electronics laboratory and TRONICO to elaborate an innovative solution to power-up all the vehicle functions except its traction system.

Road project

The « ROAD » collaborative project provides upgrades in several areas to refrigerated trucks. TRONICO realizes the different functions surrounding the autonomous embedded energy generation system.
