Electronic Systems for biotechnology applications

TRONICO designs and develops premium innovative electronic systems for the biotechnology sector. The company has developed a specific skill in the field of metrology adapted to biotechnology (qualitative and quantitative characterization of specific magnitude to evaluate). Two technologies are at the heart of its expertise:

  • RAMAN spectroscopy
  • Micro-bacterial analysis

The « biotechnology » business unit leans on its excellence know-how and its partnerships with several world-renowned laboratories (Nantes University, CNRS, CEA…) to highlight scientific research.

Thanks to their partnership, Nantes University and TRONICO have created RIMAE. RIMAE is a shared laboratory which aims at carrying out innovative projects in the biotechnology sector.

Electronic Design

Product developments, from SIL 1 to SIL 4, can be achieved using the FIDES guide and in respect of CEI 61508 standard. A specific quality department is dedicated to ensure the respect of internal process and accreditations.

Experienced teams develop and analyse products to reach and maintain requirements regarding Safety & Reliability (RMAS: reliability, maintainability, availability, safety).

TRONICO’s engineers have acquired specific knowledge on biotechnology projects in the following technical fields:

  • Metrology and its analysis
  • data analysis and database
  • statistical analysis
  • radio-frequency
  • numerical electronics/ FPGA/ µC
  • communication & network
  • ...

In addition to its skill in terms of electronics and mechanical development, TRONICO has internal means for layout and rooting as well as automatic test benches realization.

Electronic prototyping

TRONICO is organized with a specific « prototype » team, which enables it to provide quick manufacturing capability. It provides an expertise regarding purchasing and manufacturing to guarantee reliable and sustainable solutions.

The « prototype » team leans on experienced workers dedicated to this task and led by a prototype coordinator which regroups and handles the customer’s needs and matches them according to industrial constraints.

This “prototype” team disposes of identical and independent production means.

Electronic industrialisation

The industrialisation process involves searching and analysing reliable and sustainable solutions to optimise circuit board manufacturing. Industrialisation service facilitates and handles the progress from prototypes to production runs. Industrialisation is integrated from the start of a project to optimize short, medium and long-term production costs.

Industrialisation optimises production and consists of the following elements:

  • Purchasing/supply FMECA*: used by TRONICO to handle the risks and obsolescence
  • Process FMECA*: used by TRONICO to handle processing risks
  • DfX:
    • DfM (Design for Manufacturing): analysis of  the manufacturability of the boards and their integration
    • DfT (Design for Test): defining and optimizing the test strategy
  • Design to cost: design methodology to optimise product cost

(*Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis).

Assembly and testing

TRONICO has more than 40 years’ experience in electronic products and PCB assembly..

To do so, TRONICO leans on specific manufacturing means dedicated to electronic systems realization (SMD lines, wave soldering, X-ray, AOI…).

In addition to its manufacturing capability, TRONICO offers a full range of testing solutions (flying probes, ICT, thermal shocking, vibrations, functional testing…). Testing scope is elaborated to provide a permanent loop of improvement.

Thanks to its Nadcap accredited facility in Morocco, TRONICO is able to provide these solutions at a competitive price.

Best-cost manufacturing

Both manufacturing locations, St Philbert de Bouaine (France) and Tangier (Morocco) use the same process and equipment, both also have the same quality accreditation. The Tangier site is the first to be Nadcap certified on the African continent.

Depending on the customer’s needs and requirements, TRONICO is able to offer manufacturing in France and/or in Morocco.

Activity continuity is ensured thanks to the total compatibility of both locations.

Maintainability in Operational Conditions

To allow long term use of a product or an equipment (5 to 20 years, or even more), TRONICO offers global solutions. These solutions include:

TRONICO’s offer

TRONICO answers to its customers’ needs for biotechnology solutions with three offers:

  • Developing  products : TRONICO integrates its customers’ technologies in specific products and equipment that the company will design, industrialize and manufacture
  • Developing a dedicated solution which answers a metrologic need for a product or a process characterization
TRONICO masters technologies (spectroscopy – Raman, IR…- or microbiologic analysis) allowing it to characterize the evolution of a product state (solid, gaseous or liquid)  to control its toxicity, its temporal evolution, its fermentation, its composition, etc.

Elaborating collaborative projects combining its customers’ know-how with TRONICO’s technologies to develop innovative applications.

Success stories

TRONICO has brought its innovative solutions for the following applications:

  • Molecule biodegrability : development of an miniaturized automated measurement tool to analyse molecule biodegrability
  • Bird eggs sexing : development of a non-invasive technic to foresee the bird’s gender during the incubation phase
  • Water toxicity analysis : development of biosensors and an embedded system to analyse water toxicity
  • Air toxicity analysis: development of a micro analyser to measure the VOC level (volatile organic compounds) in the air

Collaborative projects

TRONICO has acquired throughout the years a specific experience in the elaboration of collaborative projects (FUI, H2020, governmental grants…), which has enabled it to become a preferred partner and/or a leader of collaborative projects. Its commitment in different competitiveness clusters and its collaboration with important partners (Universities, CNRS…) foster synergies in order to create new products, services or process.

The knowledge acquired during these projects allows TRONICO to strengthen its position as of the major player in the integration of biotechnology electronic systems with high added value.

LabCom RIMAE

In order to promote the public/private collaboration and to carry out innovative projects in the field of biotechnologies, the shared laboratory called RIMAE was created (French for: research and industrialisation of environment applied measurement). RIMAE aims at developing and industrializing biosensors capable of measuring toxicity effects of chemical compounds.

RIMAE partners (Nantes University – UMR CNRS, TRONICO and TRONICO VIGICELL) supply solutions in the field of bioprocess and for biological products to answer industrial needs.
